Experience.
Kate Brennan's practice includes the entire range
of trust and estate planning, including representing high net worth individuals,
families, partnerships, limited liability companies, and corporations
as to income tax, wealth transfer planning, choice of entity and succession
planning. Ms. Brennan’s practice
also includes residential real estate transactions and general business
organization and taxation.
Prior to starting her own practice, Ms. Brennan
was the resident partner in the Greenwich office of
Shipman & Goodwin LLP and a member of the firm’s Trusts & Estates
Department. She also was an associate
with Hartman & Craven LLP in New York and consultant
in the Family Office Group of the Personal Financial Counseling Department
of Ernst & Young LLP in New York.
Ms. Brennan is a past President of the Greenwich Bar
Association, having served as Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. She is also a member of the Fairfield County,
Connecticut (Elder Law Section) and New York
State (Trusts & Estates
Section) Bar Associations. Ms. Brennan is a frequent speaker at seminars
and conferences on estate planning and has also appeared on the TV show
Your Money. She has been named one of the top 100 Irish American attorneys in 2011, 2010, and 2009 by Irish America magazine and Irish Voice newspaper.
Civic.
A Greenwich native,
Ms. Brennan currently serves as Vice Chair
of the Commission on Aging for the Town of Greenwich, which advocates
the needs of the town's senior population. She was appointed by the First
Selectman to Co-Chair the Senior Tax Relief Committee to review the town's
senior tax relief program. Kate has also been appointed as a member of the Housing Committee for the Plan of Conservation and Development. She was formerly a member of the Board of Directors
of the United
Way of
Greenwich, Inc. serving on the Finance Committee, as the 2006 Chair of
the Business Division for the Annual Campaign and as the 2006 and 2005
Chair of Fund Distribution. Ms.
Brennan is a 2005 recipient of the BRAVA award given by the YWCA of Greenwich
for excellence in professional and community service.
